- Morgan Fairchild's career flourished after the soap opera.

In the 1990s, the soap opera "The City" faced a common challenge: writing out a departing main actor. For this series, a dramatic solution was already established, as its predecessor, "Loving," had concluded with a serial killer wiping out many characters. "The City" followed the survivors as they relocated to Manhattan and welcomed Morgan Fairchild's character, Sydney Chase.
Fairchild, who had signed a one-year contract, opted not to return. Rather than inventing a new exit, "The City" resurrected the serial killer storyline, resulting in Sydney Chase becoming the victim. The perpetrator was later revealed to be Molly, another character on the show. However, the show's ratings failed to impress, and ABC canceled it in 1997.
Morgan Fairchild's career, however, continued to flourish post-"The City." With an extensive resume in soap operas and numerous film and television credits, she has witnessed significant changes in Hollywood over her career spanning over fifty years. Fairchild noted the increased presence of women in various industry roles, emphasizing the ongoing fight for women's rights.
