18 Oct
Summary
- James Austin Johnson's Trump impression delighted SNL UK cast.
- Johnson's impression on SNL UK was watched over a million times.
- A Weekend Update cast swap between SNL UK and US is proposed.
James Austin Johnson recently appeared on SNL UK, delivering a successful impression of President Donald Trump. The performance, which incorporated UK-specific references, was met with enthusiastic reactions from the cast and viewers alike. This collaboration has already amassed over a million views on YouTube, highlighting its significant appeal.
The positive reception has fueled discussions about potential future crossovers between the US and UK SNL programs. A particularly exciting prospect is a "Weekend Update" exchange. SNL UK's co-anchors, Paddy Young and Ania Magliano, have gained traction for their sharp commentary, and bringing them to the US version could expose them to a wider audience.
Conversely, SNL stalwarts Michael Che and Colin Jost could offer a surprise to UK fans by appearing on SNL UK. Such a move would allow both duos to explore new comedic territory, adapt to different audiences, and potentially create edgier content. While the extent of future collaborations remains uncertain, this recent guest spot has opened the door for more direct shared universe moments.
