SNL Sketch Puts Host to Sleep During Dress Rehearsal

In a recent conversation, former Saturday Night Live cast members Amy Poehler and Kate McKinnon reminisced about some of the show's most disastrous sketches. The two comedians revealed that while some SNL skits become instant classics, others are so bad they can literally put the host to sleep.

Poehler shared an embarrassing story about a dress rehearsal where the host "just kinda fell asleep a little bit" in the middle of a sketch. McKinnon confirmed she had witnessed similar incidents, recalling one where a performer "simply stopped doing the sketch and sat down on the stage."

Despite the occasional misfires, both Poehler and McKinnon expressed a fondness for watching their failed sketches, seeing it as a reminder that "everybody bombs." Poehler, who hosted SNL's 50th anniversary special earlier this month, said she still felt a pull to be part of the cast, constantly wondering "What are you guys doing over there?"

While their tenures as SNL cast members did not overlap, Poehler and McKinnon have shared the stage in Studio 8H on multiple occasions. Poehler praised McKinnon's natural talent and confidence on the show, though McKinnon admitted to having her own "desperate failures" during her time on the iconic sketch comedy program.
