IDW Dark expands the Sleepy Hollow universe with "Sleepy Hollow: The Witches of the Western Wood," a prequel comic series. The debut issue, released on May 6, chronicles the transformation of Lady Mary Van Tassel, previously known as Sarah Archer.
Raised in the Western Wood by her witch mother, Sarah endured neglect. Her path drastically shifted after a fateful encounter with the Hessian Horseman at the moment of his beheading.
This event ignited a desire for power, enabling her to overcome her abusers and evolve into the formidable witch and terror of the town depicted in Tim Burton's 1999 film. The comic promises a deeper, darker exploration of her history and connection to the Horseman.
