In October 2025, Apple Original Films and Chernin Entertainment announced plans to develop the action spec script 'Five Secrets'. The project, based on an original short story, follows Hedrick, a highly skilled mercenary who trades in people's deepest secrets. Hedrick stages elaborate near-death experiences to get powerful individuals to unknowingly confess their secrets, which he then uses to control them.
However, Hedrick's own biggest secret is that he desperately wants out of this dangerous business. When his employers find out, they will kill him. So when Hedrick is sent on a mission to extract a secret from his former mentor, he knows uncovering the secret being kept from him will be the only way he gets out alive.
The spec script, written by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, generated significant buzz when it was first packaged. Chernin Entertainment and Apple quickly acquired the project, taking it off the market before any other suitors could bid on it. The acquisition marks one of the first features under Chernin Entertainment's recently signed first-look deal with Apple TV+.
