Sistas Co-Stars KJ Smith and Skyh Black Welcome First Child After Whirlwind Romance

In a heartwarming story, actors KJ Smith and Skyh Black, who met on the set of BET's Sistas, have welcomed their first child together. The couple, who tied the knot in September 2023, announced the birth of their daughter, Pryde JaNea Black, in October 2025.

Smith and Black's relationship blossomed after they stopped filming together, as there was a no-fraternization policy on set. The pair, who are both from Florida, connected over a series of phone conversations and went on their first date in Malibu, California in 2022. After dating for 11 months, Black proposed around the holidays in 2021, and the couple exchanged vows the following year.

In addition to their personal life, Smith and Black have also collaborated professionally. They launched their own production company, Blackhouse Inc., where Black has served as creative director on several photo shoots, including a Mother's Day one featuring his wife.

"I'm a very ambitious guy, but now I got her next to me, and we love the hell out of each other," Black told Essence. "There's no limits. I feel like limitlessness is on the other side of marriage."

The proud parents welcomed their daughter, Pryde JaNea Black, on October 4, 2025, and they couldn't be happier. "I get up. I walk around for three hours if she wants me to," Black said. "My gym workouts are a little bit longer because [I'm] staring at her videos that her mom sends me. She's perfect, man. She's so perfect."
