Simon Russell Beale: Chemo & Touring Amidst Cancer Battle

Acclaimed actor Sir Simon Russell Beale is currently undergoing chemotherapy after being diagnosed with bowel cancer earlier this year. The 'House of the Dragon' star revealed that he experienced a severe gut blockage, leading to a critical period in intensive care before his diagnosis.

Beale has since begun chemotherapy, noting very few side effects and even appreciating the weight loss. He is presently touring with the Royal Shakespeare Company in the production 'Venus and Adonis,' a role he describes as ideal for his recovery period, allowing him to perform while seated with the text readily available.

Despite the serious diagnosis, Beale remains optimistic about his recovery, having been assured by medical professionals that his condition is curable. He shared that he felt well and jolly during his intensive care stay, as he had not yet considered the possibility of death.
