Gene Simmons, 76, recently discussed the passing of his KISS bandmate, Ace Frehley. Simmons expressed that Frehley's music remains vibrant and expressed regret over the circumstances of his death.
Frehley's autopsy revealed he suffered a stroke and a subdural hematoma from a fractured skull, with his death ruled accidental. Simmons highlighted Frehley's decades-long battle with alcohol and drugs, which began in his early teens.
Simmons shared his past concerns with Frehley about his substance abuse, emphasizing the widespread impact of addiction beyond the individual. He noted how such struggles can negatively affect family and friends, causing pain and distress.
Frehley, an original KISS member, left the band multiple times, last performing with them in 2002. KISS concluded their End of the Road World Tour in 2023, performing in over 30 countries. The band's future includes a Netflix biopic titled Shout It Out Loud.
Simmons has also ventured into film production with the survival horror movie Deep Water, directed by Renny Harlin and starring Ben Kingsley and Aaron Eckhart. The film focuses on plane crash survivors battling for survival at sea and is currently in theaters, with a digital release scheduled for June 16.
