In October 2025, the Wood Brothers, a sibling trio, have been captivating audiences nationwide with their eclectic blend of musical styles. The band, which consists of brothers Oliver and Chris Wood, along with multi-instrumentalist Jano Rix, has carved out a unique space in the industry by seamlessly incorporating elements of bluegrass, rock, blues, folk, and jazz into their signature sound.
The Wood Brothers' journey began in 2004 when the siblings formed a duo, with Rix joining the group in 2011. Prior to this, Oliver and Chris had been pursuing their own musical paths, with Oliver leading the Atlanta-based blues/funk outfit King Johnson and Chris being part of the Brooklyn-based jazz fusion group Medeski, Martin & Wood. However, a chance reunion during a family Christmas gathering reignited their passion for making music together.
The band's latest album, "Puff of Smoke," released earlier this year, showcases their ability to create a vibrant, melodic stew of genres. From the uplifting "Witness," featuring Dave Matthews Band saxophonist Jeff Coffin, to the joyous explorations of the band's sonic curiosity, the record highlights the group's musical prowess and creative freedom.
As the Wood Brothers prepare to hit the road this fall, they are excited to share their unique sound with audiences across the country. With a "slow rise to the middle" as their mantra, the trio remains focused on the joy of making music and connecting with their fans, rather than chasing major commercial success.
