Si King's Guilt Filming Solo After Dave Myers' Death

Si King, a prominent figure from the Hairy Bikers duo, has candidly shared the deep sense of guilt he experienced while filming a new television program focused on Britain's railway stations. This project marked his return to the camera without his long-time television partner, Dave Myers, who passed away in 2024 after a battle with cancer. King revealed that the initial year after Myers' death was marked by a complete inability to engage in work.

He described the filming process as an "odd experience," particularly the moments he had to deliver lines for the camera, a task previously shared with his "mate." This new solo endeavor brought a stark awareness of Myers' absence. King and Myers had a partnership spanning two decades, beginning in 1992 and evolving into the popular Hairy Bikers cooking show from 2006. They travelled extensively, sharing culinary discoveries worldwide.

Myers, who died at the age of 66, had been diagnosed with cancer in 2022. King recounted his friend's strong determination to continue filming, wanting to maintain a sense of normalcy. King respected his wishes, stating it was not his place to object. He explained that they "kept the wheels on as far as we could" during this challenging period, acknowledging that life had fundamentally changed.

King also reflected on how the demanding Hairy Bikers schedule, which involved prolonged absences from home, had previously impacted his personal life, contributing to his divorce from his first wife, Jane. He admitted to feeling distanced from loved ones and that he had "completely lost" himself during those times due to his inability to be present in the day-to-day lives of his family and friends.
