Sitar Maestro Offers Calm Amidst Digital Noise

Sitar virtuoso Shujaat Khan recently presented a performance that served as an antidote to the fast-paced musical trends amplified by social media. He expressed a desire to offer audiences a different experience, one that embraces the profound calmness inherent in classical music.

Khan likened his music to natural elements, describing it as having both 'thunder' and the gentle flow of a 'waterfall.' This approach aims to preserve the sanctity, innocence, and meditativeness of the classical tradition, steering away from mere sonic spectacle.

During the Saptak festival, Khan, accompanied by two tabla players, demonstrated this philosophy. Despite initial lighthearted banter with his accompanists, the performance focused on delivering a deeply meditative experience, allowing the audience to appreciate music as an unhurried reflection on life.
