Nawazuddin's Mic Fails: Actor Saves Chicago Show!

Actress Shruti Deshpande recounted her experiences performing alongside veteran actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui and his daughter, Shora Siddiqui, in the play 'Naqaab'. Deshpande emphasized that she learned crucial skills like presence of mind and maintaining balance from Siddiqui during their collaboration.

During a performance in Chicago, a microphone malfunction for Nawazuddin Siddiqui presented a significant challenge. With an audience of a thousand people becoming restless, Deshpande and Siddiqui had to adapt. Siddiqui increased his vocal projection, while Deshpande improvised and adjusted their performance to manage the technical difficulty until the microphone was fixed.

Deshpande also spoke about Shora Siddiqui's development throughout their time together. Initially struggling with Hindi, Shora eventually delivered a compelling monologue on stage. Deshpande praised Shora's transformation and unique acting abilities, noting a similar streak of distinctiveness that her father, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, possesses.

Reflecting on the nature of live theatre, Deshpande contrasted it with on-screen acting, stating that theatrical performances demand immediate handling of unforeseen circumstances. She also mentioned that Shora became like a younger sister to her, highlighting a strong bond formed during the production.
