Key visits highlighted include the Queen's trip to Much Wenlock Sports Centre in 2003 to celebrate the Wenlock Olympian Society. She also arrived in Telford via the Royal Train in 2003 for the town's 40th birthday, where approximately 1,000 children sang. Earlier, in October 1952, one of her first visits as monarch included Shrewsbury School and Shrewsbury Castle.
