Independent short films are set to gain a dedicated platform for audience engagement with the launch of ShortFlicks Screen & Speak, Edition I. This initiative by ShortFlicks Entertainment aims to provide filmmakers a valuable space to showcase their work theatrically after festival runs.
The inaugural event is scheduled for April 10 and is organized in association with the International Kolkata Short Film Festival. It distinguishes itself by not being a competition, focusing instead on exhibition and direct interaction between creators and viewers.
The program will feature curated screenings of short films and music videos. It also includes opportunities for filmmakers to engage in conversations, media interactions, and receive PR support, addressing the common challenge of films disappearing into digital obscurity.
Adding to the support for independent cinema, ShortFlicks Entertainment previously launched a digital platform via its YouTube channel, IKSFF ShortFlicks. This channel supports filmmakers through a revenue-sharing model, extending their reach online.
Organizers emphasize that the initiative seeks to ensure that dedicated short films find the audience they deserve, providing them with crucial big-screen visibility.
