Bollywood's iconic 1975 film "Sholay" will experience its "Films in Concert" world premiere on October 10 at London's Royal Albert Hall. The event features a performance by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, conducted by Melvin Tay, playing R. D. Burman's unforgettable score live to the on-screen action.
This special presentation will showcase "Sholay: The Final Cut," a recently restored 4K version of Ramesh Sippy's film. This version reinstates footage that was originally removed by the Indian censor board in 1975. The restored print will be shown in Hindi with English subtitles on a large HD screen.
The film's narrative centers on two petty criminals, Jai and Veeru, enlisted by a retired police officer to apprehend the notorious bandit Gabbar Singh. "Sholay" has consistently been recognized as a pinnacle of Indian cinema, earning accolades such as "Film of the Millennium" and featuring in top Indian film rankings.
