A historic adobe ranch home on California's Monterey Peninsula, where famed child star Shirley Temple married decorated U.S. Navy veteran Charles Black in 1950, has returned to the market. The couple met in Honolulu earlier that year and wed at the estate, which Black's parents owned. The home, originally built in 1940, was featured on the cover of Sunset Magazine in 1941.
Designed by architect Robert Stanton, the property showcases classic features including thick adobe walls, soaring wood-beamed ceilings, and French doors opening to a private garden. The living room, where Temple and Black exchanged vows, is highlighted by a traditional wood-burning fireplace. The residence has undergone restoration and is now listed for just under $2.5 million.
Shirley Temple, known as "Hollywood's Biggest Little Star," had a prolific acting career and later served as a U.S. Ambassador. She passed away in 2014 at the age of 85. The Monterey property, situated in the Aguajito Oaks neighborhood, offers three bedrooms and approximately 2,200 square feet of living space.
