Young Bharatnatyam danseuse Shilpa recently graced the 316 Monthly Baithak Programme at Pracheen Kala Kendra with a dynamic performance. Representing a new generation of classical dancers, Shilpa adeptly merged traditional elements with contemporary innovation. Her program commenced with Ganesha Kauthavam, a piece dedicated to Lord Ganesha, followed by the pure dance sequence Tishra Alarippu.
Shilpa continued with Shiva Shabdam, an emotive piece that explored the devotee-God bond through three distinct narratives. She captivated the audience with her portrayal of Ravana, Kannappa, and another Shiva devotee. A Javali performance followed, depicting a scorned lover's rage and her subsequent decision to embrace self-respect.
The program culminated with Devarnama, a composition by Purandara Dasa. This final presentation beautifully captured the tender, emotional relationship between Mother Yashoda and Lord Krishna. At the conclusion of the event, Shilpa was honored by Sajal Koser, the Kendra's Secretary, with a memento and a ceremonial scarf.
