LaBeouf Ordered to Rehab After Mardi Gras Arrest
27 Feb
Summary
- Actor Shia LaBeouf arrested on misdemeanor battery charges during Mardi Gras.
- A judge mandated rehab and drug testing for LaBeouf.
- Allegations of homophobic slurs surfaced after his initial release.

Actor Shia LaBeouf was mandated to undergo substance abuse treatment and frequent drug testing following his arrest on February 17 during Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans. A judge set his bond at $100,000.
The "Transformers" star was charged with two counts of misdemeanor battery after an alleged incident outside the Royal Street Inn & R Bar. Police were called after LaBeouf was reportedly thrown out for aggressive behavior.
Witnesses claimed LaBeouf struck two men outside the bar before being restrained by onlookers until authorities arrived. He was taken to a hospital before his arrest.
During a subsequent court hearing on February 26, it was revealed that LaBeouf had also allegedly used homophobic slurs after his initial release on his own recognizance. This information led to the imposition of new conditions.
LaBeouf has retained local defense attorney Sarah Chervinsky to represent him in this case. This legal situation adds to his history of past arrests and a settled sexual battery lawsuit filed by his former girlfriend, FKA Twigs.
