Shia LaBeouf's Plea: 'Free Me' Amid Arrest

Shia LaBeouf is currently addressing his recent arrest in New Orleans for an alleged physical altercation. The actor, 39, was arrested on February 17 and is facing two counts of simple battery. A pretrial hearing is slated for March 19. This incident continues a pattern of legal issues for LaBeouf, dating back to 2014.

Previously, in December 2020, his ex-girlfriend FKA Twigs filed a lawsuit accusing him of sexual battery, assault, and emotional distress. LaBeouf stated that while not all allegations were true, he accepted accountability for his alcoholism and aggression, expressing shame for past actions.

In July 2025, news broke that Twigs had dropped her lawsuit against LaBeouf. Separately, reports following his Mardi Gras arrest indicated that LaBeouf and actress Mia Goth, with whom he welcomed a child in 2022, separated last year.

LaBeouf has also spoken about his spiritual journey, suggesting that preparing for his role as Padre Pio led to a re-evaluation of his mental health and a turn towards faith. He described feeling isolated during his past scandals, with business contacts ceasing. LaBeouf expressed deep shame and suicidal ideations during that period, finding solace and a new perspective through his faith and acknowledging the woman who accused him as a 'saint' in his life.
