Summary
- LaBeouf believes his issues stem from anger and ego, not alcohol.
- He acknowledges his Mardi Gras behavior was unacceptable.
- He faces new charges following a February 17 arrest.

Shia LaBeouf has spoken out regarding his arrest on February 17 in New Orleans, stating he does not consider himself to have a drinking problem. During a YouTube interview published on February 28, the actor reflected on the Mardi Gras incident, admitting his behavior was unacceptable. However, he expressed reluctance to return to rehab, believing his core issues lie with anger and ego rather than alcohol misuse. He articulated, 'I think I have a small man complex. I think it's something that has to do with anger and ego more than my drinking.'
LaBeouf confirmed he has not been sober for approximately nine months and accepted responsibility for the events leading to his arrest. The February 17 incident involved two counts of misdemeanor battery, including allegedly striking someone in the face and using a homophobic slur. As a condition of his release, he was ordered into substance abuse treatment and drug testing, with a $100,000 bond posted.
Adding to his legal troubles, Shia LaBeouf was arrested a second time on Saturday, February 28, for an additional count of simple battery related to the February 17 incident. A warrant for his arrest had been issued on Friday, February 27, and he surrendered to authorities prior to a bail hearing, posting a $5,000 bond.
