Music's Roots: Jaipur Inspires Award Winner

Jaipur native Shashwat Sachdev recently earned his second National Award, this time for Best Music Direction for his work on 'Article 370.' He attributes this significant achievement to the profound influence of his upbringing in Jaipur. Sachdev’s musical journey began at a young age, absorbing the distinct sounds of Rajasthan and the disciplined techniques of the Sikar gharana.

His compositions are a unique fusion, integrating Indian classical music's nuances with the architectural structures of Western classical traditions. Furthermore, his deep engagement with Rajasthani folk music, particularly through friendships with Manganiyar musicians, adds another distinctive layer to his creative output.

Sachdev emphasizes that these influences are not mere decorative elements but form the very grammar of his music.
