Will Sharpe dives into voice acting for 'In Waves'

Will Sharpe, a familiar face from 'The White Lotus', has taken on a new role as the voice of AJ in the animated film 'In Waves'. Directed by Phuong Mai Nguyen, the movie centers on AJ, a teenage artist who finds love with Kristen while she navigates a serious illness.

Premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 14, the film saw Sharpe and Nguyen discuss their project. Sharpe lightheartedly admitted his personal drawing skills are far less polished than his character's, joking they resemble 'someone going through psychosis'. Despite this, he shares a passion for art and drawing with his children.

Sharpe found similarities between working on this animated film and live-action sets, focusing on conveying emotional nuances. He credits the animators for bringing the central love story to life through their detailed work, with voice actors like himself and Stephanie Hsu adding embellishments. Director Nguyen emphasized the challenge of portraying complex emotions realistically within animation.

'In Waves' is scheduled to begin streaming on Netflix on December 11.
