Sharon Stone Slams Modern Sex Scenes as 'Blatant'
3 Apr
Summary
- Stone finds contemporary sex scenes too explicit, preferring mystery.
- She felt misled about nudity in 'Basic Instinct' 1992.
- A 'Basic Instinct' reboot is planned with the original writer.

Actress Sharon Stone has voiced her disapproval of contemporary depictions of sex and nudity on television, describing them as overly "blatant" and "harsh." Stone, promoting her role in "Euphoria" Season 3, stated that such explicit scenes now lead her to fast-forward, as they leave "nothing to the imagination."
She contrasted this with her experience in the 1992 film "Basic Instinct," where a brief nude scene generated significant public intrigue due to its subtlety. Stone recounted in her memoir that she was unaware of the extent of the nudity until a private screening, having been assured her "panties" would remain visible.
Following this revelation, Stone confronted director Paul Verhoeven on set. Recently, it was announced that a reboot of "Basic Instinct" is being developed by Amazon MGM Studios, with original screenwriter Joe Eszterhas attached. Stone's response to this news was notably terse: "Good fucking luck!"
