Ryan Murphy's 'The Shards' Hits FX & Hulu This August

Ryan Murphy is bringing Bret Easton Ellis' psychological horror novel, 'The Shards,' to television. The highly anticipated series will premiere on August 5 on FX and Hulu, with new episodes released weekly. Internationally, the series will be available on Disney+.

Igby Rigney stars as a young Bret Easton Ellis, known for his roles in Mike Flanagan's universe. Homer Gere plays Robert Mallory, a new student at Bret's elite Buckley prep school. Kaia Gerber is cast as Susan Reynolds, a significant character. The ensemble also includes Graham Campbell, Hayes Warner, Wes Bentley, Evan Rachel Wood, and Jordan Roth.

The Shards is set in 1981, focusing on Bret's senior year. The story follows a group of privileged high school seniors navigating complex issues like identity, jealousy, and obsession. Bret's reality begins to unravel with the arrival of the magnetic Robert Mallory and the escalating terror of the "Trawler," a serial killer targeting teenagers in Los Angeles.
