Country music icon Shania Twain, who recently turned 60, discussed her perspective on aging. She revealed that reaching this milestone has brought a sense of continuity, noting "just how much you haven't changed at all." Twain feels she has never abandoned her "child self," the one who harbored dreams of writing music.

Twain, born Eilleen Regina Edwards, grew up in poverty in Timmins, Ontario, facing significant childhood challenges. Her parents, Sharon and Jerry Twain, struggled financially, and her stepfather's abusive behavior deeply affected the family. The tragic car crash that claimed her parents' lives when she was 22 marked a profound loss.

Reflecting on her early performing days, Twain recalled singing in bars from midnight to earn money for her family. Despite not enjoying the experience at the time, she now looks back on her childhood with joy, focusing on the positive aspects of those years.

Currently, Twain is actively engaged in her music career. She announced in May 2025, months before her 60th birthday, that she had begun work on her seventh studio album. She expressed feeling more in tune with herself than ever, despite acknowledging societal pressures on older female artists. This summer, she is scheduled to perform with Harry Styles at his Wembley Stadium residency, following their previous collaboration at Coachella in 2023.
