Shanghai Gallery Bridges Minds and Art

No 600's Gallery, situated in Shanghai Mental Health Center, is China's pioneering art space within a psychiatric facility. Since its 2019 inception, it has successfully organized 15 exhibitions, featuring more than 1,000 artistic creations. The gallery's mission is to connect mental illness diagnoses with the individuals living them, fostering a more humanized perception of mental health care.

The current exhibition, a partnership with Moleskine, shifts focus to the experiences of caregivers. It acknowledges the profound responsibilities and 'severe burden of care' shouldered by family members, addressing financial pressures and long-term emotional exhaustion. This initiative seeks to create a supportive environment for these often-overlooked individuals.

Artworks, including paintings, photographs, and journals created by over 40 individuals, offer diverse perspectives on life, family, and recovery. These pieces, developed with curatorial and artistic support, aim to validate the caregivers' journeys and demonstrate they are not alone in their challenges.

The gallery emphasizes the therapeutic value of artistic expression, noting how creative outlets like writing and drawing can aid self-expression and reconnection.
