Scheduled for release on November 13, the album boasts an impressive lineup of around 40 artists paying homage to the Irish singer-songwriter.
Rock giants U2 are among the confirmed participants, set to cover The Pogues' 1988 single 'Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah'. Other notable artists contributing to the project include Hozier and Jessie Buckley, who will perform a rendition of the festive hit 'Fairytale of New York'. Hollywood star Johnny Depp, a close friend of MacGowan, has recorded a cover of 'Haunted'.
Additional artists contributing to this extensive tribute include Bob Geldof, David Keenan, Jimmy Artache, Tom Creagh, The Libertines, Primal Scream, Kate Moss, and David Gray. MacGowan, born on Christmas Day 1957 in Kent to Irish parents, led The Pogues to prominence in the 1980s, with their 1987 release of 'Fairytale of New York' becoming a global phenomenon.
