This significant win positions "Shame and Money" as a contender for the Academy Award for international feature film.
Oscilloscope Laboratories has slated a theatrical release for early 2027. The narrative centers on a middle-aged couple in rural Kosovo whose family faces economic hardship after a dispute leads to the loss of their farm. Forced to relocate to Pristina, the parents grapple with the immense pressure to provide for their family while seeking employment and stable housing.
Director Visar Morina expressed his hope that the film contributes to a growing class consciousness, particularly relevant in today's challenging economic climate. Producers involved include Fabian Altenried, Sophie Ahrens, Kristof Gerega, Pia Hellenthal, and Morina himself. "Shame and Money" is Morina's third feature, following previous works like "Exile" and "Babai."
