Veteran Actor Weighs In On Shaktimaan Film Debate

Lalit Parimoo, an actor from the original 'Shaktimaan' television series, has voiced his perspective on the persistent discussions surrounding who will portray the iconic superhero on the big screen. He posited that the current controversy involving actor Ranveer Singh might be a manufactured publicity stunt rather than a genuine disagreement.

Speaking about Mukesh Khanna's assertion that Ranveer Singh spent three hours trying to gain his approval for the role, Parimoo suggested that such actions are common publicity gimmicks used for films and TV shows. He implied that deliberate efforts are sometimes made to generate news, and that this situation might be playing into those tactics.

Parimoo acknowledged Ranveer Singh's talent, citing his performance in 'Dhurandhar,' and believes Singh possesses the necessary qualities for the role. However, he expressed doubts about the 'Shaktimaan' film capturing the same enchantment as the original 350-episode TV series. He noted that modern audiences expect international-standard superhero films and that anything less technologically advanced might not resonate.

Mukesh Khanna has publicly maintained his opposition to Ranveer Singh playing Shaktimaan, remarking that while Singh is a terrific actor, his demeanor did not convey the essence of the character. Sony Pictures announced a 'Shaktimaan' trilogy in 2022, aiming to revive the superhero for a new generation, but no official casting has been confirmed.
