Shadowbox Studios has officially taken over the management of the renowned Kaufman Astoria Studios in Astoria, Queens. This historic 500,000 square-foot facility has been a backdrop for numerous classic and contemporary productions, including "Goodfellas," "Sesame Street," "Succession," and "The Devil Wears Prada 2." The studios currently feature 11 soundstages and 325,000 square feet of office and production support space. The transition comes after a tumultuous period where Deutsche Bank filed a foreclosure complaint against the previous owner, Hackman Capital Partners, due to a defaulted loan. A court-appointed receiver facilitated Shadowbox's operational role, beginning immediately. Mike Mosallam, COO of Shadowbox Studios, expressed enthusiasm for integrating their standards of excellence and providing top-tier customer service to producers at the landmark site, which dates back to the 1920s when it was Paramount Pictures' home. Shadowbox operates other studios internationally, including facilities in Atlanta and the UK, and is developing a new complex in Australia.
