The Sex Pistols are embarking on a highly anticipated 'The Anarchy In The UK' tour across the UK and Ireland, commemorating five decades of punk rock. This celebratory series of concerts marks 50 years since the release of their seminal track.
The tour kicks off on December 7 at Dublin's 3 Arena, proceeding to Edinburgh's Corn Exchange on December 9 and Glasgow's O2 Academy on December 10. The band will feature guitarist Steve Jones, drummer Paul Cook, and bassist Glen Matlock for these December dates. The final leg includes two London performances: O2 Academy Brixton on December 18 and the Eventim Apollo on December 20.
Musician Frank Carter will join the lineup on vocals for the tour. This reunion follows a period where frontman John Lydon, formerly known as Johnny Rotten, had publicly stated he would never return to the group. The band, known for their provocative lyrics and anti-establishment stance with songs like "God Save The Queen" and "Anarchy In The UK", previously reunited for gigs in 2025, though Lydon did not participate.
Reflecting on the band's early days, drummer Paul Cook described their initial performances as "like a commando raid," emphasizing their raw, on-the-job learning experience. He noted that "Anarchy" tapped into the country's unrest, advocating for self-expression. Cook expressed enthusiasm for their current live performances, stating, "We've had a blast. People want to come and see us play live. If I must say so myself, we are a great live band."
In addition to the December tour, the Sex Pistols are scheduled to play shows this summer at The Piece Hall in Halifax on July 11, Castlefield Bowl in Manchester, also on July 11, Cardiff Castle on August 1, and Scarborough Open Air Theatre on August 2. These dates highlight the band's ongoing commitment to live performances.
