SEVENTEEN's Vernon and The8 have officially launched their first album as the duo unit V8 on June 29, 2026. The unit's name, "V8," merges Vernon's initial with The8's number, symbolizing an unstoppable drive fueled by their unique artistic energy, according to PLEDIS Entertainment.
Both members were deeply involved in the songwriting and composition of the album. Vernon is recognized for his extensive songwriting contributions since SEVENTEEN's debut in 2015 and his membership in the Korea Music Copyright Association and the Recording Academy. The8, a main dancer, is also known for his contemporary art practice and has released solo projects in China.
V8 is SEVENTEEN's sixth official subunit, introduced to maintain creative output during members' military enlistments. Previous units include BSS, JxW, HxW, CxM, and DxS. These subunits provide members with creative outlets and recognition while keeping the SEVENTEEN brand active for the Carat fanbase.
Post-album release, V8 is set to embark on the "2026 Vernon The8 V8 Live" concert tour. Performances are scheduled for July 11-12, 2026, at KINTEX Exhibition Center 1 in Goyang, South Korea, followed by shows in Hong Kong on July 18-19, 2026, at AsiaWorld-Expo Hall 10.
