Seth Rogen Recalls Wildest Audition for Eminem's 8 Mile

Seth Rogen recently shared an anecdote about what he considers the craziest audition of his career. While speaking with director Olivia Wilde on The A24 Podcast, Rogen recalled auditioning for the 2002 film 8 Mile, which starred Eminem. Wilde, who previously worked as a casting assistant for Mali Finn, remembered Rogen’s audition for the role of Cheddar Bob. Rogen explained that he and his friend Jason Segel attended the audition together, even reading lines for each other due to a unique requirement. Rappers were involved in the film, and the audition process mandated that actors bring someone to read opposing roles with them.

The film 8 Mile, loosely based on Eminem's life, is set in 1995 Detroit. It chronicles the journey of Jimmy Smith Jr., also known as B-Rabbit, as he endeavors to become a successful rapper. The movie featured a notable cast including Brittany Murphy, Anthony Mackie, Mekhi Phifer, Omar Benson Miller, and Kim Basinger. Its iconic song, "Lose Yourself," became a number one hit and earned an Academy Award for Best Original Song. The movie "The Invite," starring Rogen, is currently in theaters.
