Seinfeld Remembers Rob Reiner: A Guiding Star

Jerry Seinfeld shared a heartfelt tribute to his late friend and colleague Rob Reiner, days after Reiner and his wife Michele were fatally stabbed. Seinfeld, 71, posted on Instagram a photo of himself with Reiner and his father, Carl Reiner, from a 2000 event. He credited Rob Reiner, whose company produced "Seinfeld," as the third-most impactful figure in his career, behind Larry David and George Shapiro.

Seinfeld emphasized Reiner's vital role in keeping his self-titled NBC series on the air, stating, "When nobody at the network liked the early episodes, he saved us from cancellation." He recalled Reiner's passionate advocacy, noting that "Our show would have never happened without him. He saw something no one else could." Seinfeld also found inspiration in Reiner's "imprint" of a successful 35-year marriage with Michele.

Rob Reiner had previously spoken about his belief in the "Seinfeld" sitcom, even during its rocky start. He recounted a heated exchange with NBC executive Brandon Tartikoff, pleading for the show to be given more time. Reiner insisted, "Please, I promise you there'll be stories. You can't take this show off the air. It's going to be one of the great shows you've ever had."
