Secuoya Studios Taps Netflix Exec for LatAm Content

Secuoya Studios has appointed Carla Gómez as its new head of development and executive producer for Latin America. This move bolsters the Spanish studio's creative and production capabilities in the region.

Gómez brings more than two decades of experience in the television and streaming sector. She will oversee original project development from concept to production, also contributing intellectual property from her boutique company, Cielito Studio.

This appointment aligns with Secuoya's strategy, announced in April, to grant its Latin American operation greater autonomy in development, production, and greenlight decisions. The focus markets include Mexico, Colombia, and the U.S. Hispanic market.

Her prior experience includes work with ViX, HBO, Viacom, NBCUniversal, and most recently, Netflix in Colombia. Gómez has executive credits on numerous productions for platforms like ViX and HBO Latin America.

Gómez stated her strong belief in the 'local for local' vision, emphasizing content created within the region for its audiences. Secuoya's recent success includes the Netflix hit "La Celda de los Milagros," which topped global non-English-language film rankings in February 2026, garnering 21 million worldwide views in the first half of that year.

Other upcoming projects for Secuoya's Latin American slate include "Belleza" and "La Corona."
