Scrubs Revival Ratings Soar, Renewal on the Horizon?

The revival of the popular medical comedy Scrubs, which premiered on the 2026 TV schedule, has achieved significant critical acclaim and impressive ratings. Within the first five days of its release, the initial two episodes attracted 11.36 million cross-platform viewers across ABC, Hulu, Disney+, and other digital platforms. The series also claimed the top position in linear adults 18-49 ratings, demonstrating a strong audience connection in today's media landscape.

Creator Bill Lawrence, serving as an executive producer on the new iteration, has expressed optimism about the show's future. While discussions for a revival began in 2022, development commenced in late 2024, leading to an official order from ABC in July. The return of original cast members like Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes, and John C. McGinley, along with guest appearances by Christa Miller and Neil Flynn, has been a key factor in its success. Lawrence indicated that Ken Jenkins would also return as Dr. Kelso if the show is renewed.

This season features a condensed nine-episode run, a departure from the original series' longer seasons. Newcomers to the cast include Vanessa Bayer, Joel Kim Booster, and others, joining the returning ensemble. The strong performance has led to anticipation for a potential second season, with Lawrence hinting at its possibility. Viewers can stream the series on Hulu or Disney+.
