28 Feb
Summary
- Directors envisioned Scream 7 as a disturbing, 'f*ck you up' experience.
- They planned to shrink the scope after Scream VI's expansion.
- Original plans changed due to Barrera's firing and director departures.

The directing duo Radio Silence, comprising Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, have revealed their initial, much darker concept for Scream 7. Before departing the project to direct their new film 'Abigail,' they envisioned a sequel that would be significantly more disturbing than its predecessor.
Their concept for Scream 7 was to create a film that would 'f*ck you up,' a stark contrast to the more feel-good tone of Scream VI. They also considered shrinking the narrative scope, making it an ultra-contained, minute-to-minute experience, a reversal of their approach in the previous installment.
However, this ambitious plan was never fully developed, as Radio Silence left the project early on. The franchise subsequently faced further turmoil, including the dismissal of star Melissa Barrera and the exit of director Christopher Landon, who cited safety concerns due to intense threats.
