Scott Borchetta has officially relaunched Big Machine Records, having reacquired the label's name from HYBE. He expressed excitement about returning to a smaller, independent operational model, reminiscent of the company's early days. This strategic move follows the conclusion of Borchetta's five-year contract with HYBE AMERICA.
Several artists, including Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, and Lady A, are making the transition to the new iteration of Big Machine. Borchetta will also be joined by approximately 16 employees, including key executives. Distribution and backroom services will continue through Universal via HYBE, maintaining a connection.
Borchetta founded Big Machine Records in 2005, and it became part of HYBE AMERICA in 2021. He is now embarking on this new chapter with a focus on agility and an "indie vibe," operating with a significantly reduced artist roster and staff compared to its previous scale.
