A new crime film from Martin Scorsese, set in the 1960s and 70s Hawaiian mob scene, is currently undergoing significant script revisions. The movie will center on the life of mob boss Wilford "Nappy" Pulawa and his organization, known as The Company.
Dwayne Johnson and Leonardo DiCaprio are attached to star in the project, with Emily Blunt also set to feature. The script, penned by Nick Bilton, is expected to be delivered to 20th Century Studios within approximately one month for further review.
Blunt has expressed enthusiasm for the project, calling it "the last great American mob story." The film's narrative will explore the turbulent period on the islands as an aspiring mob boss contended with triads and the U.S. military in a brutal power struggle.
No release date has been set for Scorsese's Hawaiian mob movie. The acclaimed director is also reportedly working on a thriller titled 'What Happens at Night,' which will also star DiCaprio.
