Scorsese Stars in Coffee-Fueled Family Saga

Legendary director Martin Scorsese has stepped in front of the camera for Lavazza's new branded miniseries, "Family Blend." His daughter, Francesca Scorsese, directed and co-starred in the five-episode project, which celebrates "the magic of coffee" and the deep bond between artistic visions.

The series was filmed in significant locations such as New York's Little Italy and Brooklyn, exploring the intergenerational connection. Notable actors including Jason Biggs and Adrien Brody also feature in the installments.

Lavazza describes the series as a portrayal of coffee as a cultural gesture that unites diverse stories and creative perspectives across generations. The project aligns with the brand's "Pleasure Makes Us Human" platform, blending cinematic depth with modern digital formats.

New episodes are scheduled for release monthly through November. The first episode, "But First... Coffee," was released earlier this week and was filmed at the Martin Scorsese NYU Virtual Production Center in Brooklyn.

Subsequent episodes include "Elizabeth Street" in August, a nostalgic look at Scorsese's childhood street, and "Back to Tisch" in September, set at their alma mater, NYU. "Where Everybody Knows Your Name" arrives in October, featuring Francesca touring Di Palo's Fine Foods. The finale, "But Last... Coffee," will be released in November, showing Francesca challenging her father's coffee preferences.

Francesca Scorsese has previously directed short films and an episode of "Martin Scorsese Presents: The Saints."
