A new live-action Scooby-Doo series is in development at Netflix, set to offer a modern reimagining of the beloved cartoon. The cast is taking shape with Maxwell Jenkins cast as Fred, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma, and Tanner Hagen as Shaggy. McKenna Grace is already on board to play Daphne.
The series will explore the origin story of Mystery Incorporated. It centers on Shaggy and Daphne during their final summer at camp, where they stumble upon a mysterious case involving a Great Dane puppy. This puppy may have witnessed a supernatural event.
Velma, described as pragmatic and scientific, and the new student Freddy join forces with Shaggy and Daphne. Together, they aim to solve the puzzling mystery that threatens to expose their hidden secrets and confront a creepy nightmare.
The show comes from Warner Bros. Television, with Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg serving as showrunners. Greg Berlanti is among the executive producers, with other producers including Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, Adrienne Erickson, and pilot director Toby Haynes.
