Comedian Alex Horne recently hosted the School Tasking Champion of Champions final, a competition for primary school pupils that draws inspiration from his hit TV show, Taskmaster. Hundreds of students watched their classmates tackle challenges like spoon throwing and object balancing.
The event, founded by Dr. Ali Struthers, is a university outreach project designed to introduce children, particularly those from less-advantaged backgrounds, to higher education and the legal field through teamwork and problem-solving.
This year's champions were the "Smart Ones" from Stanhope Street Primary School in Dublin, Ireland. Their teacher highlighted the immense excitement and opportunity the event provided for the disadvantaged students.
The School Tasking initiative is planning significant expansion, with new versions including STEM and History tasks, and international involvement in Iceland and Australia on the horizon. Alex Horne, who has hosted the event for four years, finds it rewarding, noting the unfiltered creativity of the children.
