Sky has officially announced the premiere date for Saturday Night Live UK, with the show set to launch on March 21. This new six-part series, inspired by the long-running American program, promises a "bold, exciting, and incredibly funny" debut for UK audiences.
The British version will feature a rotating cast of 11 new stars, including Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi, and Paddy Young. Each weekly episode will be broadcast live and will include an opening monologue, topical sketches, live music, and a UK-centric version of SNL's renowned news satire segment, "Weekend Update".
With a format that involves writing, rehearsing, and performing within the week of each show, Saturday Night Live UK aims to capture the spontaneous energy that has made its American counterpart a cultural force for decades. The show will bring a distinctly British lens to the beloved sketch comedy format, featuring a new guest host and a chart-topping musical guest each week.
