Sasha Calle's Hollywood Deja Vu on Sugar Set

Sasha Calle found a touch of déjà vu during her first day of filming the latest season of 'Sugar.' Production on the Apple neo-noir series brought her back to Hollywood, specifically to the street where she attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. This return to a familiar location, just a block from her old dorm, evoked sentimental feelings for the actress.

Calle, whose career has spanned roles from 'The Young and the Restless' to DC's 'The Flash,' joined 'Sugar' as Val, a protegee to Colin Farrell's titular character. Filming in Los Angeles was a significant perk, allowing her Great Dane, Dragon, to join her on set. She also noted the rare opportunity to shoot in L.A. given current industry trends.

A highlight of her role involved a 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray, which Val conveniently retrieves after it's stolen from John Sugar. Calle eagerly took the wheel herself, driving the vintage car with spirited enthusiasm after testing its capabilities on the studio lot. She noted the car's stunning appearance and her own bold performance with it.

Calle's experience also included working alongside veteran actors like Matt Damon and Ben Affleck on Netflix's 'The Rip.' She praised their commitment to treating everyone equally and respectfully on set, particularly through their Artists Equity banner. She also touched upon her past experience as Supergirl in 'The Flash,' expressing hope for greater Hollywood recognition of women's ability to lead major film projects.
