Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has announced that Sarkar 4, the latest installment in his popular political crime series, will commence production next month. This confirmation comes as a significant development for fans of the franchise.
The original Sarkar, released in 2005, featured Amitabh Bachchan as the formidable political figure Subhash Nagre and was critically acclaimed. The series continued with Sarkar Raj in 2008 and Sarkar 3 in 2017, with Abhishek Bachchan reprising his role as Shankar in the latter two.
Varma shared this news at the Red Lorry Film Festival, where he also discussed influences for his cult classic Shiva. He revealed inspirations drawn from Steven Spielberg's filmmaking techniques and the thematic core of Bruce Lee's The Way of the Dragon.
During the festival, Varma also expressed admiration for emerging talent, particularly praising Aditya Dhar's upcoming project Dhurandhar 2, while reiterating Steven Spielberg as his all-time favorite director.
