Sarah Michelle Gellar recently offered fans a glimpse into her fitness routine, sharing a video from a heated Alo Pilates class. The "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" alum demonstrated exercises using stability balls and dumbbells, highlighting her dedication to maintaining a toned physique. Gellar, a long-time attendee of the exclusive Alo Wellness Club in LA and a practitioner of tae kwon do, initially favored cardio and Pilates.
However, after reaching the age of 40, her fitness priorities evolved to emphasize strength training for improved bone density. She even travels with resistance bands to maintain her regimen. Gellar explained to Women's Health in 2025 that lifting weights is crucial for general health and bone density, and also serves to protect her from injuries sustained in demanding roles, stating her goal is to be healthier rather than to alter her body shape.
Fans were also reminded of the upcoming 30th anniversary of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" in March 2027. In a surprising turn of events, a modern retelling of the cult classic, helmed by Oscar-winning director Chloé Zhao, was confirmed by Hulu and Gellar in February 2025. However, Hulu announced in 2026 that the series, known as "New Sunnydale," would not move forward despite a pilot being shot. Gellar expressed her sadness about the cancellation but also her gratitude to Zhao for reigniting her love for the character and its significance to fans.
