Sarah Ferguson eyes royal comeback after hiatus

Sarah Ferguson, formerly a senior working royal, has remained out of the public eye alongside King Charles for nearly a year. Her last joint public appearance with the monarch was at the Duchess of Kent's funeral in September 2025. Royal expert Phil Dampier speculates that Ferguson desires to mend ties with King Charles, motivated by her daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.

Both Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie have adopted a more subdued public presence in recent months, prioritizing their growing families and navigating parental controversies. Despite this, they recently attended social events and a royal wedding in June 2026, though their parents were absent.

Ferguson married Prince Andrew in 1986 and maintained close relationships with the late Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth II after her divorce. She continued to attend family events, and unusually, shared living arrangements with her ex-husband at Royal Lodge until recently. A rare moment of public warmth between Ferguson and King Charles was observed at Royal Ascot in June 2025.
