- The fatwa deems worshipping other religions as forbidden.
- Temple committee requires non-Hindu visitors to submit an affidavit.
A controversial fatwa has been issued against Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan by an Islamic cleric, Maulana Mufti Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi. The fatwa specifically targets Khan's recent visit and prayers at the Hindu shrine of Kedarnath. The cleric declared that worshipping in accordance with another religion is strictly impermissible and considered 'haram' under Sharia law.
He further urged the actress to repent for her actions, comparing her to a guilty person seeking forgiveness. This religious ruling comes after Khan was observed visiting the Kedarnath temple and was seen with folded hands. This is not the first instance of religious criticism for Khan regarding her visits to the shrine.
Adding to the administrative measures, the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) has implemented a new rule. Non-Hindu visitors seeking to offer prayers at the temples must now submit a formal affidavit. BKTC Chief Executive Officer Sohan Singh Rangar confirmed that Sara Ali Khan's team had complied with this requirement prior to her visit.
