Sanjay Dutt, a figure often surrounded by controversy, saw his extensive legal battles conclude in 2016, marking the end of a long journey through the justice system.
In 2018, a photograph from 1993 resurfaced, showing prominent actors like Saif Ali Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Ajay Devgn holding a poster of support for Dutt during his initial arrest. This image underscored the solidarity within the film industry during his challenging times.
Further reflecting this support, the song 'The Forgotten Sanju' emerged, sung by Abhijeet Bhattacharya, offering a sympathetic view of Dutt's hardships and prison time, with appearances by Yash Johar and Shatrughan Sinha.
Professionally, Dutt has announced 'Khalnayak Returns' (Khalnayak 2), slated for April 25, 2026. He will reprise his role as Ballu Balram, portraying a matured character after his prison sentence, with Subhash Ghai serving as a creative mentor.
