Sanjay Dutt's Tearful Confession: 'Papa, Galti Ho Gayi'

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt's arrest in 1993, linked to the Mumbai blast, remains a significant ordeal in his life. Initially cleared of conspiracy charges, he was convicted under the Arms Act for possessing illegal weapons. Investigator Rakesh Maria recalled Dutt's emotional confession to his father, Sunil Dutt, after his arrest. "Papa galti ho gayi mere se," Dutt reportedly cried, falling at his father's feet, a moment that left Sunil Dutt pale.

Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam faced public sympathy for Dutt during the trial, which complicated the legal proceedings. Nikam opposed leniency, advocating for a seven-year sentence under the Arms Act. During the verdict in 2013, Dutt was visibly trembling, expressing his innocence. The Supreme Court ultimately sentenced him to five years imprisonment, and he completed his term in 2016.

Dutt subsequently made a comeback to acting, participating in several film projects after serving his sentence. This period represents a critical chapter in his personal and professional life, marked by legal battles and public scrutiny.
